Drive to Queen Elizabeth NP

Your Safari will start off in the morning with a meet and greet in Kampala. You will then drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is perfectly situated near Rwenzori Mountain - which acts as a beautiful backdrop. As you enter the park, you may be rewarded with welcoming views of elephants, leopards, buffaloes, lions and a variety of antelopes.

After lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing, and passes through one of the highest concentration of hippos in the whole of Africa. Additionally, many animals may be seen drinking at the water's edge, including buffalo and elephants. The prolific bird life is colourful and stupendous with more than 600 resident bird species.

Game drives in this park, with the massive Rwenzori Mountains as a backdrop, provide an excellent opportunity to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, African buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda kob, topi and bushbuck. After having your breakfast, you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. From the hot savannah climate of Queen Elizabeth, your drive to Bwindi Will lead you to Bwindi which is blessed with a much cooler climate.

On your drive to Bwindi, you will pass the many terraced hills and local residences. The winding roads through these farms on the hills are the reason why many refer to these Kigezi highlands as the "Switzerland of Africa".

You will reach your place of accommodation in time for lunch and a relaxing afternoon. You can also choose to fill the afternoon with some community activities around your safari lodge.

The time is taken to find the gorillas and the terrain covered will vary according to the movements of these marvellous primates. After finding the gorillas, you will spend a total of 1 hour observing, seeing and photographing the gorillas as they go about with their 'normal day'.

Other mammals that live in Bwindi include the forest elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, and giant forest hog, among others. Bwindi is also blessed with more than 300 bird species and over 350 butterfly species. All these are your 'extra surprises' as you look for gorillas.

Large and irregularly shaped, Lake Bunyonyi features a number of islands and is surrounded by heavily cultivated hillsides. The largest island in the lake once supported a Dutch-built leper colony. The colony was relocated in 1969 when a community of disabled persons took over the buildings for craft production. Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in Uganda.
