Wildlife Chimpanzee Trekking Tours Itinerary

Day 1: EBB Airport Arrival and Hotel Transfer

Our executives will meet and greet you at EBB airport and comfortably transfer to the hotel for your stay.

Day 2: Entebbe Wildlife Tour with Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sancturary

Entebbe is a leading African city in Central Uganda serving as a gateway to Uganda safaris with the spectacular views of Lake Victoria, the world’s 2nd largest freshwater lake. The colonialist government was using it as its administrative center earlier. You can see many centuries old buildings here that are all built in a superior colonial style. The African term Entebbe refers to “the seat or chair” in Luganda – the local language spoken by its 10 million plus tribal community. Entebbe city is also associated with a real interesting story of its international airport being raided by commandos of Israel in 1976 to save its terror attacked citizens.

While taking a wildlife tour to Entebbe, you will have an extraordinary ecological experience at the UWEC (Uganda Wildlife Education Center) and the national Botanical Gardens along with spectacular greenery, Red colobus monkeys and vervet monkeys. The botanical gardens in Entebbe is an ideal place to spot not only sunbirds, waxbills and weavers but also the Great Blue Turaco, Pigmy Kingfisher, Palm nut Vulture, Eastern Grey Plantain Eater, Pied hornbills, black-and-white Flycatcher and the Black-and –white-casqued Hornbills.

You will have to ride a boat for next 45 minutes to reach at Ngamba Island and track chimpanzees that have been captured by illegal wildlife traders in the East Africa and rescued from them to get conserved here safely. Chimpanzees that have been healed back to their health can also be seen roaming freely in the wild habitat of Ngamba island. We will transfer you to Kampala city in the evening after travelling around this chimpanzee sanctuary. It is just the 2nd day of our Uganda wildlife chimpanzee trekking tours but will make sure that you have a great start with chimpanzee trekking.

Day 3: Wildlife Safari Tour to Lake Mburo National Park

After finishing your breakfast, you will have a comfortable drive to Lake Mburo National Park with a halt at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers on the way to experience the absolutely old and impressive methods of crafting the ceremonial drums that have been in use for many generations. You will also have a stopover at the equator for taking photographs.

In afternoon, you will ride a boat on Lake Mburo while getting very close to hippos and crocs. Birdviewers in specific can spot around 250 bird species available in Lake Mburo along with Brown faced Lapwing, Papyrus Gonolek, Carruther’s Cisticola, Barefaced-Go- Away bird and the exceptional Hispaniolan Highland-tanager or White winged Warbler.

We will ensure a game drive in evening, taking you along the lakeside track in dense forest. With its independently structured game routes and cleared pathways the “Kigambara Loop” gives scope for amazing guided lakeshore walks. You will also be able to find herds of eland, Cape buffalo and zebra in this park. Topi, Defassa waterbuck, reedbuck and Oribi can be easily seen here.

Day 4: Safari Walk or Game Drive in Bwindi Gorilla National Park

After taking your breakfast, head on for a safari walk or game drive in Bwindi national park escorted by an armed wildlife ranger. The relaxing pace of your walking safari in this gorilla national park will give you excellent chance for photography. You will find the Kopjes to be as interesting as topis and camouflage kilpspringers. Since this area is mostly safe for cattle herding, you will be amused to see zebra and girafee grazing beside the long horned Ankore Cattle peacefully.

Your game drive will continue through the Kigezi Highlands along with its breezy roads and roofed hillside, leading to Bwindi. It will give you a fantastic safari tour experience to the “Switzerland of Africa”.

Day 5: Bwindi Gorilla trekking Tour

In the early morning, you will get an entry into the Bwindi Gorilla sanctuary which is surrounded by spectacular rainforest. The Bwindi Imprenetable forest provides a highly steep forest landscape which is dense and cross-intersected by many game trails providing easy access to Uganda tourists. Mammals found here include the extinctive mountain gorillas, buffaloes, leopard, elephant, bushbuck, black-fronted duiker, rare golden monkey, giant forest log and more. The Bwindi park is world famous for the conserved species of mountain gorillas. The terrain and time of our wildlife and gorilla trekking tours vary a lot according to the movements of these wonderful primates. The excitement of watching the gorillas and spending time with them will be unimaginable. You will have an awesome adventure of exploring the mountain gorillas that are shy, peaceful and interactive. A memorable safari experience will be offered with the option of watching and photographing the gorillas in Bwindi park.

Day 6:Wildlife Tour in QENP (Queen Elizabeth National Park)

Get transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park – one of the best treasures of Ugandan Safari through the Ishasha sector where you can encounter tree climbing lions.

You will have a unique boat ride on the Kazinga Channel in afternoon which will end up in Lake Edward. Our wildlife chimpanzee trekking tour makes you pass through the highest possible concentration of elephants, buffaloes, hippos and many more animals that are busy drinking water at its edge. Our boat cruise provides a great platform for game viewing, birding and photography. The rich bird life in QENP assures to give you a breathtaking and colourful experience with access to more than 550 bird species living here.

Day 7: Game Drive from Queen Elizabeth to Kibale Forest

You will have a game drive in morning to cover the diversified ecological system of Queen Elizabeth National Park including grasslands, tropical forest, lakes, swamps, rivers, volcanic craters and wildlife in great abundance. Game drive continues in this national park, with the gigantic Rwenzoris mountain in its background providing fabulous opportunities to spot leopard, lion, giant forest hog, elephants, cape buffalo, defassa waterbuck, Topi, Uganda Kob, and bush buck. The boat trips together with game drives can be a memorable way of discovering a broad range of Ugandan fauna and wildlife.

You will go to Kibale forest crossing the inspiring Ruwenzori Mountain to make the most of your wildlife and gorilla trekking tour in Uganda. Moreover, you will have a walk to nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary in afternoon to view interesting primates, birds and mammals. You will be far more excited to find the chimpanzees, sitatunga and rarely seen red colobus monkey. With a guided walk along the circular track passing through the Bigodi swamp, you will have the best experience of birding tour in East Africa and a realistic view of up to 6 different primates in a few hours time.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Trekking Tour from Kibale Forest to Entebbe

Your chimpanzee trekking tour will start in the morning from Kibale forest and expose you to 10 exclusive primate species including red colobus, l’ hoestes, gray – cheeked mangabey and blue- red tailed monkeys. Our tour guide will give proper insight, not only into the life of primates, but also on the varieties of forest flora and fauna and will make sure that your walking and trekking is both educative and enjoyable. This tour can be excellent for watching primates and birds at close distance.

After the tour you will be transferred to Entebbe. You will reach in EBB hotel early in the evening.
