Day 1: Arrive Tanzania at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Kenya at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport If arriving is in Kenya -Nairobi – Arusha (Tanzania). On arrival we will meet and provide a private transfer from JKIA to the city center. You will overnight at the Stanley Hotel or Pan Africa Hotel or Silver or Safari Park Hotel on a Bed and Breakfast basis. The following day we provide a private shuttle bus to Arusha (depending on the size of the group). We then drive to Tanzania via the Namanga Border, this will be your first of many meetings with the colourful beaded Maasai. After clearing customs at the border, we enter Tanzania. The lowering sun highlighting the dust clouds as the Maasai bring their cattle across the parched awesome countryside. We should arrive in Arusha by 18h00.
If arriving at Kilimanjaro International airport, we will meet you and provide a private transfer to Arusha.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park After breakfast, walk on the slopes of Mt Meru, once the home area of your escort. You will receive a gentle introduction to the town’s lifestyle as the town workers and their farm produce come down from the cooler slopes and villages. We collect last minute fresh fruit from the busy food market. This is your last chance for personal banking and shopping requirements, as you will be away from supply shops for the next couple of days. The Safari begins! We will drive in our 4×4 safari vehicles for the next 9 days, beginning with a two hour drive out to the Tarangire National Park. Enjoy a game drive in the evening, before a relaxing dinner on the wide terrace tent overlooking the Tarangire wilderness. The Tarangire National Park is 20 000sq km. big, and is noted for its Baobab trees and ‘mobs’ of elephants. The swamp areas attract 550 bird varieties, migratory wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, impala, gazelle and many of the smaller animals like mongoose and porcupine. Dinner and overnight at the Tarangire River Camp on a Full Board basis.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park to Serengeti National Park After breakfast we depart to the Serengeti National Park, with a picnic lunch along the way. You will enjoy game viewing en-route, and lunch will be served on the way to the Serengeti. Enjoy a game drive as we proceed to the Ikoma Area. We arrive at Ikoma later in the afternoon for dinner and overnight at Ikoma Safari Camp on a Full board basis.
Day 4: Full day in Serengeti National Park After breakfast enjoy a game drive in the Serengeti National Park. You will have a choice of going out to the bush with a picnic lunch, or return to have a hot lunch at the camp. After lunch we proceed to enjoy another afternoon game drive. Among many other wildlife are wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, buck, gazelles, monkeys, baboons, mongoose, many stunning birds, and hopefully we will have sighting of the shy and elusive cheetah and leopard. Night drives can also be arranged. Overnight at Ikoma Safari Camp on a Full board basis.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area After breakfast we depart from Serengeti Ikoma Safari Camp and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with a picnic lunch and game viewing en-route. We will visit Olduvai Gorge, ‘the cradle of mankind”, and Dr. Leakey’s Museum, where the Leakey family discovered the first evidence of homo sapiens. You will have an optional visit to a Maasai Boma, and afterwards we proceed for our overnight stay at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge on a Full board basis.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Tour After breakfast we leave Rhino Lodge, and descend to the crater floor for a 6 hour game drive. From the crater rim, we will pass through the grey lichen covered rain forest, then drive 600m down to the crater floor. Spend the rest of the day game driving in the crater, with a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. Ngorongoro Crater has its own eco system. The soda lake shimmers with flamingos and is dotted with blobs of hippos. Only male elephants descend into the crater, as the female stay on the rim. You will see the zebras and wildebeest, milling about close to your vehicle. Also look out for warthogs, rhino, lions, jackal, buffalo, hyena and ostrich in their own kingdom. Enjoy your game drive inside the crater, and later in the afternoon you will leave the floor of the crater and ascend to the crater rim, where you take your final glance at this amazing site. We then drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Farm House on a Full board basis.
Day 7: Karatu to Lake Manyara National Park After breakfast we leave Ngorongoro Farm House and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy sight seeing en-route, including the beautiful scenic view of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Enjoy a full day of game drives inside the park. Lake Manyara National Park is nestled under the escarpment on the Eastern side of the Rift, renown for its tree climbing lions and the Lake with its millions of flamingos. Discover the diverse flora and fauna attracting many of East Africa’s brilliant birds. Overnight at Migunga Forest Camp on a Full board basis.
Day 8: Lake Manyara to Arusha After breakfast we will leave camp, and spend the morning walking around the camp and Mto wa Mbu’s colorful market. We then proceed on to Arusha stopping at a coffee plantation for lunch. After an early lunch we transfer to Arusha Airport for your domestic flight to Zanzibar, ETD 14h15 ETA 15h40. On arrival at Zanzibar International Airport, we will meet you, and provide a private transfer to the North coast, for dinner and overnight at Mnarani Beach Hotel on a Half Board basis.
Day 9, 10 & 11: Discover the North Coast of Zanzibar’s white beaches Breakfast will be served at the hotel and you can relax on the beach, or decide to do some of our many optional activities like snorkelling, scuba diving and swimming with the dolphins to name but a few. Dinner and overnight at Mnarani Beach Hotel on a Half Board basis.
Day 12: North Coast to Stone Town After breakfast we leave Mnarani in the north coast, and drive to Stone Town, with an optional visit to Kizimbani for a Spice Tour (Spice tour: it is a tour to introduce you to the spices of Zanzibar, visiting small farms and homes to sample nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cocoa, fruits, coconuts, pepper vines, vanilla, allspice and to enjoy a spicy lunch). Lunch is for your own account. On arrival in Stone Town, we will proceed for dinner and accommodation to Tembo House on a Half Board basis.
Day 13: After breakfast, spend the morning at leisure or go on an optional guided tour of Stone Town. You can also explore the old part of Stone Town at leisure. There are many dining opportunities in Stone Town (look out for the food market in the evenings in the old part of town). On the “The Swahili Coast” the delights of tropical island living are endless. Stone Town has a rich history of sultans, slaves and spices. Overnight at Tembo House, a traditional coastal hotel right on the sea wall, in the heart of Stone town on a Bed and breakfast basis.
Day 14: Stone Town to Zanzibar International Airport Enjoy your last morning at leisure. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport, for your domestic flight to Dar es Salaam, to connect to your international flight back home.
